The general effect of microneedling

The AquaPen uses wafer-thin needles to open microscopically small channels in the skin to greatly increase its absorption of active ingredients. Various serums are used during the treatment, the active ingredients of which penetrate through the channels into the deeper layers of the skin and take effect there.

By "opening" the skin, its self-healing process is activated, which makes the skin glow. The increased regeneration helps to reduce various skin problems such as acne, pigmentation spots and scars.
At the same time, elastin and collagen production is stimulated, making the skin firmer and more resilient and visibly reducing wrinkles and fine lines.

What makes the AquaPen special

As with most other microneedling pens, the AquaPen offers three needle types for treating different skin conditions:

The 12-needle attachments feature 12 ultra-thin, 1.5 mm stainless steel needles and are ideal for use on acne, pigmentation marks, (acne) scars and stretch marks.

The Nano HR needle attachments are used for moisturizing, brightening, tightening and pore refinement. They have 130 rounded needles and a length of 0.15 mm.

With the Nano-HS needle attachments, you have 81 silicone needles with a length of 0.1 mm at your disposal. You can use them to treat sensitive areas of skin, redness, wrinkles and fine lines around the eyes.

In addition to the extensive application options, the needle attachments of the AquaPen stand out from other microneedling pens due to a special feature: the needle cartridges are also liquid containers with automatic serum application. The desired serums can be added directly to the needle cartridges (up to 3 ml). In this way, the skincare product is infused deep into the skin as soon as the needles penetrate. This ensures up to 90 % better absorption of the active ingredient and prevents the care serums from being wasted.

Full control - from start to finish

In addition to choosing between the needle cartridges and your treatment benefits, you can also adjust the penetration depth and speed of the needles.
The dial with practical scale allows you to quickly and easily set how deep the fine needles should penetrate the skin. The possible range is 0.1 to 1.0 millimeters.

The 6 possible speed levels of the needles are used for different applications:

1. Level: moisturizing and brightening.
2. Level: Reduction of pores.
3. Level: Reduction of wrinkles and fine lines around the eyes.
4. Stage: Lightening of pigmentation spots.
5. Stage: Reduction of acne scars.
6. Level: Reduction of stretch marks.

The currently set speed level can be read off the small screen on the AquaPen at any time.

Instructions for using the Aquapen microneedling pen

Preparation

1. Wash hands thoroughly:
   Make sure your hands are clean to ensure a contamination-free treatment.
2. Cleaning the skin:
   Clean the skin area to be treated thoroughly with a gentle cleanser to remove make-up, dirt and oil. Then use an antiseptic agent or a disinfectant to disinfect the skin surface.
3. Preparing the Aquapen:
   1. Fill the liquid container: Unscrew the liquid container of the Aquapen and fill it with the desired liquid (e.g. hyaluronic acid, vitamin serums or another solution suitable for microneedling). Screw the container back on securely.

Carrying out the microneedling treatment

1. Adjust the needle length:
   1. Depending on the sensitivity of the skin area and the treatment goal (surface or deeper treatment), you can adjust the needle length on the Aquapen. To do this, turn the control on the device to select the desired depth (typically 0.25 mm to 2.5 mm).
2. Switching on the Aquapen:
   1. Press the start button to switch on the Aquapen. The pen will begin to vibrate gently and the serum will be evenly distributed via the needle head.
3. Treatment:
   1. Start the treatment by moving the Aquapen over the skin in gentle, dabbing movements.
   2. Zones: Start on the forehead, then work your way down the cheeks, nose and chin. Repeat the same technique for the neck and décolleté.
   3. Release fluid: The Aquapen continuously releases fluid that penetrates deep into the skin while the needles open micro-channels.
4. Treatment time:
   - Treatment of one area of the face should take around 5-10 minutes, depending on the area and condition of the skin.
   

After the treatment

1. Soothe the skin:
   1. After microneedling, the skin will be red. Apply a soothing serum or cooling mask to calm and hydrate the skin.
   2. Avoid direct sunlight for the next 24 hours and do not use sunscreen or make-up immediately after the treatment.
2. Clean the Aquapen:
   1. Disinfect it again with 70% isopropyl alcohol before laying it down to dry.
   2. Clean the liquid container thoroughly if there is any residue of the liquid.
3. Aftercare:
   1. Over the next few days, apply gentle skin care products that moisturize and soothe the skin.
   2. Use a sunscreen with a high sun protection factor (SPF 50) every day, as the skin is more sensitive to UV radiation after microneedling.
   3. Avoid aggressive skin care products such as retinol, acids (AHA/BHA), peels or perfumes for the first 48 hours after the treatment.
      

Frequency of application

• For sensitive skin, microneedling is recommended every 4-6 weeks.
• For specific skin problems such as acne scars or pigmentation spots, the treatment can be repeated every 3-4 weeks.
• Please note that too frequent application can overstress the skin. Therefore, always leave sufficient time between treatments to give the skin time to regenerate.
