In microneedling, many fine, medical-grade microneedles penetrate the outermost layer of the skin (the epidermis) and simulate a minor injury to the skin. To achieve this, the Derma Pen rosé uses needle cartridges, which can contain varying numbers of needles. The punctures stimulate the skin’s self-healing mechanism. The tissue regenerates, blood circulation is stimulated and metabolism and collagen production are stimulated. The result is a gentle rejuvenation of the skin: it is firmer, more elastic and visibly healthier. The skin’s absorption of active ingredients is also improved.
The Derma Pen can be used on both the face and the body. The penetration depth is adjustable from 0.2 mm to 2.0 mm. Beauticians are permitted to work at a maximum penetration depth of 1.5 mm. The speed can also be adjusted manually. The user-friendly handpiece has 5 speed settings. Furthermore, the Derma Pen can be used cordlessly.
BB Glow and Cherry Lips treatments can also be carried out using the Derma Pen. In these treatments, colour pigments are gently worked into the skin using so-called nano-needles.
Instructions for using the Microneedling Dermapen Rose
Preparation
- Wash your hands thoroughly:
- Before treatment, you should wash your hands thoroughly to minimise the risk of contamination.
- Cleaning the skin:
- Clean the area of skin you wish to treat with a gentle cleanser to remove make-up, dirt and oil. Then use a suitable disinfectant to disinfect the skin.
- Sterilising the Dermapen:
- Choosing a suitable serum:
- Choose a suitable serum for your treatment (e.g. hyaluronic acid for hydration, vitamin C for brightening, or an anti-ageing serum). The serum is delivered deeper into the skin during the microneedling treatment.
Adjusting the settings and starting the Dermapen
- Adjusting the needle length:
- Select the needle length on the Dermapen according to the area of skin to be treated and the desired treatment depth.
- 0.25 – 0.5 mm: Ideal for fine lines, skin texture and enlarged pores.
- 1.0 – 2.0 mm: Suitable for deeper wrinkles, scars and pigmentation spots.
- Adjust the needle length accordingly for sensitive areas such as the eye area.
- Switch on the device:
- Switch on the Dermapen. The Rose microneedling Dermapen usually has several speed settings, which you can adjust depending on your skin’s sensitivity and the area being treated.
Carrying out the microneedling treatment
- Applying the serum:
- Apply a sufficient amount of the chosen serum to the skin. Ensure that the skin remains adequately covered with serum throughout the treatment so that the Dermapen can glide smoothly.
- Movements during the treatment:
- Guide the Dermapen over the skin using gentle, even movements. You can use circular or straight movements.
- Areas: Work in small sections to ensure that every area of skin is treated evenly. Start on the forehead and work your way down over the cheeks, nose, chin and neck.
- Pressure and treatment speed:
- Apply only light pressure. The Dermapen should glide gently over the skin. Too much pressure can irritate the skin unnecessarily.
- Treat each area of skin 2–3 times, depending on your skin’s needs. However, you should take particular care with more sensitive areas, such as the eye area.
- Duration of the treatment:
• A full facial treatment should take around 10–15 minutes, depending on the treatment area and your skin’s needs.
After the treatment
- Soothing the skin:
- After the microneedling treatment, the skin will be slightly reddened. Apply a soothing serum or a cooling moisturising mask to soothe the skin. Use products specifically formulated for sensitive skin.
- Post-treatment skincare:
- Avoid direct sunlight for at least 24 hours after the treatment.
- Apply a high-factor sun cream (SPF 50) daily to protect the skin from UV rays.
- Avoid harsh skincare products such as retinol, exfoliants or chemical acids for the first 48 hours after treatment.
- Cleaning the Dermapen:
- Remove the needle head and clean it thoroughly with water.
- Disinfect the needle head again with 70% isopropyl alcohol and leave it to air dry before storing it.
Recommended frequency of use
- For sensitive skin, microneedling should be carried out every 4–6 weeks.
- For specific skin concerns such as acne scars or deep wrinkles, the treatment can be repeated every 3–4 weeks.
- Allow the skin sufficient time to regenerate between treatments.
