The functional principle of the MD808 Pro Smart is based on the natural color pigment melanin, which is contained in every hair color (except grey/white). The laser beam emitted by the device is absorbed by the melanin and directed into the hair follicle. There, the laser energy creates a thermal effect that destroys the hair root and ends its activity. The hair falls out naturally after a while without growing back.
As laser energy is generally only effective on hair that is in the growth phase (anagen phase), several treatments are always necessary until hair is completely free.
The 808 nm wavelength of the MD808 Pro Smart has a high repetition rate and a high average power, making it particularly effective. Thanks to its medium absorption via the melanin (color pigment), the wavelength makes it possible to treat even darker skin types (I-V according to Fitzpatrick).
